White balance

White balance is when you hold up a piece of white paper in front of the camera so that the camera knows what the true colour of white i this then means that every time that the camera see a patch of white then it will know what it should acctuly look like meaning that the camera can then edit the white to thee shade it really is this means that it will also record the real colour and then use it in the future.

To do a white balance you need to make sure that the camera has a filter wheel and make sure the filter is on the correct filter for the light conditions. Then you need to get the camera pointed at a piece of paper that is true white make sure that the paper takes up most of the screen so that that is that the camera can only see that this means that the camera will not pick up on anything else. Then you flick the switch so that the balance starts and then you should get a thing flash up saying that it is completed.

Scene sound on IT dancing scene

When the scene starts you get the sound of a of a gate being drop which means that something has been realized evil has been let out this is like Penywise has be set free from the trap that he was in for 30 years when he was sleeping and is now out and ready to feed on the victims that he will pick and eat. They also have the sound of the clown music which is distorted which bring the idea of how long has this clown been doing this for and how it is also played to bring fear to the audience as quite a few people are scared of clowns so to use music that i associated with clowns it bring horror levels up. The music also sound distorted because of how many times it has been played making you think about how Penywise could have played it to all his victims to make them even more scared even though this music is meant to be innocent it is use in a cruel way making you think about how all the clown could turn evil making you associated distorted sound with the evilness of this clown.

When the dancing starts it is used in a crescendo way this if effective because it can also be seen as showing how Penywise is confidant and loud but during the reset of the scene the music starts to decrescendo this can show the confidence of the character growing and how Penywise are gradually softening out until the music cuts out all together at the time when he jumps off the platform to stop Beverly form escaping. This is also to help you hear the dialogue of the characters talking because if the music kept on playing the some people would find it harder to listen to what is being said.

The is also an example of natural sound at the time when Beverly is looking around for a way to get out and she looks over at the sewer and then you can hear the sound of water as it pours out into the cage she is trapped in. This is the only example of natural sounds in the scene.

You also get a Empathetic sound which is when Penywise jumps off the stage and he does the laugh this matches the mood because laughter is normally associated with funny and safe but when the clown jumps off it it to build the seance of fear that how can someone find it amusing to scare another and that clown laughs are meant to be funny but this laugh is just terrifying and you would not feel comfortable if someone laughed around you like that you would be set on edge.

Coming back to the dance scene it is a perfect example of sound motif as the music it strange and perceptual just like Penywise also as it plays clown music and the horror person is a clown you instantly think oh crap hes here building up the tension that a poor innocent girl is trap in a place with a psychopath and there is no way to escape.

The whole ambiance off the scene is good as well because it is set in a scary place where no-one would go and no-one would want to go. This helps you to realize that she has been trapped and take to a dark and scary place this can symbolize what Penywise is all about because his aim is to scare you as much as possible before he feeds on you as he feeds off of fear and what better place to try and scare someone in a place that they have never been a place where they will take ages to escape if they do make it away they in somewhere like the sewer this is how they have done it because you realize even if the Beverly does make it away then the likely hood she will get caught before she can make it out meaning that she is trapped. This can be taken back to when Penywise started his dance and how when the sound of the door dropping and him being let out it means that others will be trap so in a way it is as soon as one door close meaning the exit for Beverly another opens meaning the entrance for Penywise to enter. I believe that it is perfectly done as this also helps build up the tension as it is like being stuck in the room with your worst fear and not known a way out and you start to feel scare for the character that is trapped in with Penywise.

Fashion

On Tuesday and Wednesday we done fashion we had to paint color swatches which we then heated in a heat press at 180'c and held it down for 60 seconds this means that the paint does not smug as if you done it a different way the color could smug we also used 100%polyester and regular paper.

Equipment we used

Paint Brush
Water pot
Painting tray
Dysperse dyes
Heat press
Polyester sheets to print on
Hair dryer to help dry it abit before it goes in the heat press

Things that went well

Wrote well backwards
The colors came out well
it looked like how I wanted it to

Thing that could have gone better

I could have stayed in the lines
Used creative ideas to make it look more appealing

We used the heat press to make it go into the polyester
We used the paint brush to get the dyes onto the paper
We used the water so that we did not mix the colors
Used the hair dyers to speed up the drying process which means we could use the heat press earlier

Photography blog

On Tuesday we done a photography class where we learnt about DSLR which stands for Digital, Single, Lens, Reflex this means that it flips the image upside down for us so we see it the right way up and it takes single photos every time you press the button where as normally it takes bursts photos this means you don't need to take more photos but you are able to take more if you want to by putting it into trust mode.

We went round take photos in different shutters speeds meaning that if you did not want to let as much light in you would put it on a fast shutter speed so that you could get a clear image if it was a slow shutter speed it would allow more light in meaning that the photo would be more distorted the fastest we could have are shutter speed was 2000 and the slowest was 120 close a second.

We could also control the aperture that we were able to control meaning that we could get a wide field shot or a narrow shot this was helpful because then we could get the amount of detail we wanted also if we wanted more detail like in the side we could make it wider and then get a nice image.

Review on BIC AD

My opinion on the prediction is that even thought it took a while to get it started it was worth it because we got the effects and the style we wanted meaning it looked really good.

We had a few issues during the production which was sound issues as sometimes we could not here them and sometimes we could not hear the sound effects meaning that the process was slowed down because we had to reset the process and start again it took us 15 attempts to get it right. We also had communication issues as we could not speck to the actors directly we had to talk to them through the cameraman this meant that we could not get it across as clear as we wanted to.

What did go well is when the sound effects worked  it was good as we got what we wanted. Also when the acting worked it was good because we were able to see what are ideas were like in real life. meaning that everything came together how we wanted it to.

Critically Comparing my Skills, Processes and Methods

*****COPY ALL BELOW TO A NEW POST****

1st. Formulate your question:
Look below at what you  are you being asked to evaluate.
Unit 1
U1.2.1 Critically compare a range of communication methods used to convey meaning in creative media production.
Note Critically is similar to compare but concentrate on the things that are different with two or more methods used or what sets them apart. Point out any differences which are particularly significant.

In your own words say what U1.2.1 is asking you to do.
Answer: critically compare the different types of media

2nd. Gather your information:
What have you been doing that you can evaluate
On your blog you now have two weeks detailing classes in The Carousel and professional ways to use tools, skills, processes.  If you have details of these you have done this point just add the links below.

Blog link to last week:

3rd. Apply the information
How well have you done in the sessions?
Ask yourself:
  • Which skills, Processes and Methods or tools you enjoyed the most?
Answer: I liked mono-printing because I got loads of different effects and tones meaning I could create the image how I wanted it.

  • Which of the things you have been shown could you demonstrate to another person?
Answer: How to mono print because I found it easy to do and because it is was the best of a bad bunch
  • Which of the things you have been shown do you need more practice with?
Answer: My drawing skills as I can not draw to save my life

4th. Consider the implications
If you were asked by a professional to use some of the tools, skills, processes how well would you do?
Answer: if he asked me to use a biro i would do every well because i know how to get different tones and how to do hard and soft strokes

If they asked me to use oil paint i would not do well as i would not be able to do anything as i couldn't do it.

5. Explore other points of view
Have you considered feedback from teachers and Peers as to how well you did in the session, if so what feedback have you had?
Answer:

What Feedback have you had so far that tells you you are doing okay in the session?
